Slokas are poems or verses generally in couplet forms written in praise of God or Guru. We invoke God’s/Guru’s Blessings and Grace easily by reciting these slokas sung by great Rishis and Acharyas.
In Namadwaar we are conducting Sloka classes on alternate Saturdays to instil the values of reciting the slokas, in the young minds. Though simple, they are highly powerful mantras/words which purify our minds and bring about inner transformation even without our knowledge. The children are able to learn and remember the slokas easily.
The following slokas have been taught so far.
Prathasmaranam/Satvika smaranam – slokas need to be recited as soon as we get up
Nadhi sthothram – remembering all the theerthas while taking bath
Kshethra mala – thinking of all the sacred places
(It is to be noted that merely the smaranam/thinking of these rivers and sacred places gives us the mertis of having taken a dip in those rivers and having had the darshan of those kshethrams)
Vaishnavashtakam – remembering all the vaishnavas, bhakthas and bhagavathas
Vasudevashtakam – Prayer to Bhagavan as Guru
Adhitya Hrudhayam – slokas on Sun God which yields victory on all fronts, and best of health
Dhyana slokas of Srimad Bhagavatham and Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam
Vishnu Sahasranamam and Athma nivedhanam
